Dr Trevor Borchers Urologist, Claremont

Dr. Trevor Borchers is a highly respected Urologist based in Claremont, Cape Town, South Africa. Born and raised locally, he attended Queens College and Rondebosch Boys' High School before joining the Air Force Gymnasium. In 1969, he earned his MBChB from the University of Cape Town. Following his medical degree, he gained extensive experience at Groote Schuur and Red Cross Hospitals in Cape Town. He later moved to the United Kingdom, where he trained in General Surgery at the Kent and Canterbury Hospital. From 1973 to 1978, he completed his specialist urology training at Groote Schuur Hospital.

Dr. Borchers opened his private practice in Cape Town's Southern Suburbs in 1979 under Dr. TM Borchers and Partners. At the same time, he served as a full-time consultant urologist at Groote Schuur Hospital until 2016. He also held longstanding consulting roles at Victoria and False Bay Hospitals.

Throughout his career, he played a vital role in the South African Urological Association, serving on its Executive Committee for 12 years, including five years as President. In 2003, the University of Cape Town honored him with the Distinguished Surgeon Award for his contributions to the field of urology.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Borchers is an avid sportsman. He has completed four Comrades Marathons and eight Two Oceans Marathons. Now, he enjoys Thursday afternoon tennis and traveling in the great outdoors. He is married to Margaret French and has four children.
