Dr Yahya Atiya is a highly skilled and dedicated Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist, with extensive experience and qualifications in the field. He graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2004 and quickly made his mark in the medical community, gaining entry into the prestigious Golden Key International Honours Society during his academic journey. His early career included completing an internship at the renowned Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital in Soweto, followed by a year in the rural town of Standerton, Mpumalanga, where he served the needs of underprivileged communities.
Dr Atiya’s passion for medicine initially steered him towards Ophthalmology, but after a pivotal experience in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at Bara Hospital, he discovered a deep connection with ENT. This led him to pursue his specialisation in the field. Dr Atiya successfully completed his Master of Medicine in Otorhinolaryngology with distinction in 2014 and has since been committed to advancing his skills and knowledge. He is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and registrars at the University of the Witwatersrand and is a key member of the Baragwanath Cochlear Implant team.
