Impossible Mental Health – Psychotherapist Belfast

About Impossible Mental Health

At Impossible Mental Health, we believe it is time to change how we view mental health. Based in South Belfast, we offer professional Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) in a safe, comfortable, and purpose-built environment.

We are passionate about reducing stigma around mental health treatment. Our focus is always on delivering the highest standard of care to every client.

Led by Deborah Nelson, our experienced team of therapists supports individuals, couples, and children aged 7 and above. We also specialise in working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

All our therapists are fully accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), ensuring you receive expert care from qualified professionals.

Deborah brings over 20 years of experience working in acute mental health, brain injury, community mental health, forensic, and prison mental health settings. Her expertise provides a strong foundation for understanding the individual needs of each client.

We operate from modern, spacious therapy rooms in South Belfast. Our facility includes five private therapy rooms — one of which is fully accessible — and a large group therapy space. Conveniently, we also offer eight free on-site parking spaces and excellent public transport links.

Services We Offer

Impossible Mental Health provides short-term, goal-oriented CBT talking therapy. This evidence-based approach focuses on how thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect behaviour and emotions.

Together with your therapist, you will identify new ways to approach challenges and set practical goals for change. CBT is an effective treatment for a range of difficulties, including:

  • Anxiety

  • Health Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Panic Disorders

  • Phobias

  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Low Self-Esteem

  • Assertiveness Training

Moreover, all of our therapists hold university degrees and have completed at least two years of specialist CBT training. Our services are suitable for private clients and those using personal or employee health insurance policies. We frequently work with providers such as BUPA, WPA, Cigna, Aviva, Allianz, H3, and AXA.

Sessions last one hour and cost £90. This fee covers both the session and additional preparation and documentation time. Typically, treatment involves between 8 to 20 weekly sessions.
