Dr Laila Paruk is a psychiatrist based in Saxonwold. She holds qualifications including an MBBCh and MMed from Wits University, a Diploma in Mental Health, and a Fellowship in Psychiatry from the College of Medicine of South Africa. Dr Paruk provides psychiatric consultations, assessments, and medico-legal evaluations. She specialises in anxiety disorders, personality disorders, substance use disorders, pain management, and women’s mental health.

She is passionate about how exercise and meditation can impact psychiatric disorders and reducing the stigma in psychiatry. Dr Paruk also works at a weekly dual diagnosis clinic at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. She actively supervises master’s candidates and teaches undergraduates and postgraduates at Wits University.
