I am Lana (Svetlana) Kelleher, a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). My name is also listed on the BACP Voluntary Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, approved by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care. This offers reassurance to clients that I maintain a high standard of care and practice.
Originally from Bucharest, Romania, I have an extensive background in teaching English and working as a translator and interpreter. After relocating to the UK, I began volunteering with the Samaritans, where I discovered my passion for counselling. This led me to retrain as a psychotherapist.
I hold a variety of qualifications, including:
Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling (Chichester University)
INALPTA Diploma in NLP Counselling
Certificate in Counselling Skills (Chichester University)
Certificate in Personal Coaching
Training in Assessment of Clients
Advanced Post-Diploma Certificate in Couple Counselling
CBT Diploma (Regent’s University, London)
Over the years, I have worked with clients referred by GPs, NHS services, charities, and self-referrals, gaining experience in both general and private practice settings.
At Lana Kelleher Counselling, I offer a broad range of services to address individual needs. Here are the key therapeutic approaches I provide:
Person-Centred Therapy
In this approach, I create a non-judgemental and safe space where you can explore your feelings and experiences. By fostering a supportive environment, this therapy helps you to understand yourself better and encourages personal growth.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on identifying and challenging negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. It is effective in managing conditions such as anxiety, depression, and stress, helping you build healthier coping strategies.
Couple Counselling
Through advanced training in Couple Counselling, I support couples in improving communication, resolving conflicts, and strengthening their relationships. I work with couples to rebuild trust and address challenges in their partnership.
NLP Counselling
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) helps clients reframe unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, particularly useful for overcoming phobias, building self-esteem, and fostering personal growth.
Personal Coaching
I provide coaching for individuals looking to achieve specific personal or professional goals. My coaching sessions are designed to boost your confidence, clarify your aspirations, and increase motivation.
Language Support
In addition to offering therapy in English, I provide services in Romanian. This ensures accessibility for clients who prefer to speak in their native language.
I am committed to continuous professional development, regularly attending workshops, training, and conferences. I also undergo supervision to ensure the highest quality of service for my clients, and I maintain full professional indemnity insurance for added peace of mind.
Confidentiality is paramount in my practice. I adhere to the BACP Code of Ethics, ensuring that everything shared in therapy remains private. Therapy is a dynamic and collaborative process, and I tailor my approach to each individual's needs.
Whether you're seeking support for mental health challenges or looking to work on personal growth, I would be happy to offer guidance. Please don’t hesitate to contact me for an initial consultation.
