Marina van der Ryst Neuropsychologist Lynnwood offers expert neuropsychology and neurofeedback support with a strong focus on personal growth and brain health.
Dr Marina van der Ryst is an Educational Psychologist who specialises in neuropsychology and neurofeedback training. She has over 25 years of private practice experience. She believes each person holds the key to their own success. Because of this, she keeps learning new tools to support her clients. In addition, her deep interest in the brain helps her understand each client’s journey better.
The practice sits in a calm and quiet suburb in Lynnwood. This setting helps clients relax and feel at ease. Clients can enjoy a peaceful space, often with a cup of coffee, before or after sessions. Furthermore, the practice forms part of a multidisciplinary group of HPCSA-registered therapists. These professionals work together to support each client’s goals. As a result, clients receive well-rounded and focused care.
Dr van der Ryst works closely with a wide network of support services. This approach ensures that every client receives full and balanced care. Moreover, some services are available online or at home. This flexibility helps meet changing client needs. Therefore, clients can access support in ways that suit their lifestyle.
She offers a wide range of training and therapy services. These include Neurofeedback Training (NFT), Brain Mapping (qEEG), and Biofeedback Training. In addition, she provides Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and psychological assessments. Clients can also receive sleep support using CBT-I, relaxation therapy, and study support. Furthermore, she offers counselling and rehabilitation for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).
Dr van der Ryst registered with the HPCSA in 1992 as an Educational Psychologist and Psychometrist. She earned both her Master’s and PhD in Psychology from the University of Pretoria. After that, she completed post-master diploma studies at the University of Johannesburg. These studies focused on adult pathology, neuropsychology, neurophysiology, and personality models. She also holds membership with the Psychological Society of South Africa.
In 2010, she completed an advanced Level III Hypnosis Certificate. This training included Eriksonian, Medico-Analysis, and Ego-states methods. She uses these tools to help clients with different challenges. Later, her strong passion for neuroscience led her to focus on neuropsychology. Over the past 10 to 12 years, she has also testified in court cases. These cases involved cognitive function and traumatic brain injury.
In 2015, she became accredited by the BCIA as a biofeedback practitioner. Then, in 2019, she registered as an EEG Technician with the HPCSA. She also trained further with the IQEEG Board. Because of this, she uses advanced tools like NFT and QEEG to support client growth. These methods, combined with psychological care, help clients build positive habits that last.
