Nicola Janks Counselling Claremont offers a safe and supportive space for individuals who want to improve their mental and emotional well-being.
Nicola Janks is a Specialist Wellness Counsellor with a BA in Health Science and Social Services from UNISA, where she focused on Psychological Counselling. In addition, she completed a BA Honours in Psychological Counselling at Cornerstone. Her interest in mental health started at the age of 12. She felt inspired by stories of children who healed from trauma.
Therefore, she now uses a person-centred and holistic approach. She also uses simple systems that fit each person’s life. As a result, each client receives care that suits their needs, goals, and daily challenges.
Counselling gives you a safe, private, and non-judgmental space. Here, you can talk freely about your thoughts and feelings. At the same time, you can understand your behaviour and personal goals better.
In addition, counselling helps you process difficult emotions. You can also build strength and learn practical coping skills. As you continue, you begin to make positive changes that match your values and goals.
This workshop helps people build useful life skills. It suits all ages and supports daily emotional growth.
You will learn about different perspectives and how to manage strong emotions. You will also explore thought patterns and behaviour cycles. Furthermore, the workshop includes mindfulness, breathing exercises, visualisation, and self-soothing techniques. As a result, you can handle life’s challenges in a calmer and more balanced way.
Nicola completed both her undergraduate and Honours degrees in Psychology. She also completed courses in teaching and life coaching. Moreover, she has volunteered with different organisations. She supported underprivileged communities and worked in schools as both a counsellor and facilitator.
During her postgraduate studies, she led skills groups for pre-teens and teens. At the same time, she ran workshops on emotional development. In addition, she created and introduced an emotional development programme at an inclusive high school while volunteering.
Nicola works with different age groups, and each group receives support that fits their stage of life.
Adults learn ways to improve their mental health. They also develop tools to manage daily stress and improve their quality of life.
Teens between 13 and 18 learn how to handle adolescence. They build healthy coping skills and manage relationships, school stress, and identity changes.
Pre-teens aged 8 to 12 focus on building confidence and resilience. They also learn how to manage stress and communicate better.
Children aged 5 to 12 develop social skills and emotional control. They also receive help with friendships, family changes, and school challenges.
Nicola focuses on key areas that support overall well-being. These include coping skills, self-esteem, and personal growth. In addition, she helps with resilience, anxiety, and depression. She also supports clients through relationship challenges, life changes, and grief.
