About Nicole Soames Educational Psychologist Pinelands

Nicole completed her Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology and Organisational Psychology at the University of Cape Town. After that, she earned her Honours and Master’s degrees in Educational Psychology from the University of the Witwatersrand. She also completed a short course in Practical Psychometry at the University of Johannesburg and registered as a Psychometrist.

Furthermore, Nicole has strong experience working with children, teens, and university students. She volunteered at Ububele in Johannesburg, where she supported early childhood emotional well-being. At the same time, she runs workshops for parents, teachers, and psychology students. These workshops focus on positive discipline, setting clear boundaries, and preparing for ethics board exams.

Therapy at Nicole Soames Educational Psychologist Pinelands

Therapy sessions focus on building emotional strength and self-awareness. Nicole uses play therapy for younger children and talk-based therapy for teens. As a result, children learn to express feelings, while teens learn to manage stress more effectively.

She supports clients dealing with anxiety, behaviour struggles, bullying, low school performance, and family changes such as divorce. Therefore, each session aims to build confidence and healthy coping skills.

Play Therapy

Play therapy supports children aged five to thirteen. Through play, children express thoughts and feelings without needing many words. This process helps them reduce stress and build confidence. In turn, they also improve problem-solving skills.

Psychotherapy for Teens

Teenagers often face social and emotional pressure. Psychotherapy helps them understand themselves better and manage daily stress. Nicole guides teens to build stronger coping skills and improve self-esteem. As a result, they handle school, friendships, and family life with more confidence.

Assessments and Parental Guidance

Nicole works closely with parents to support each child fully. She believes parents play a key role in emotional growth. Therefore, guidance sessions help families understand their child’s needs and create a supportive home environment.

In addition, she offers psychoeducational and concession assessments. These assessments identify learning strengths, challenges, and emotional needs. Consequently, they help guide the right support at school and at home.
