Dr Petra van der Merwe brings 24 years of private practice experience and has successfully treated more than 10,000 patients. She is passionate about orthodontics and enjoys building strong relationships with her patients. Her dedication, combined with her compassionate approach, makes her a trusted orthodontist.

In addition to earning a Master’s degree in Orthodontics, she completed a four-year Master’s degree in Pathology. This training instilled in her a habit of always questioning and seeking deeper understanding. She constantly pursues new certifications and courses to stay at the forefront of orthodontic advancements.

Dr Petra specialises in treating temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) and is a proud member of the International College of CranioMandibular Orthopedics (ICCMO). She completed a two-year advanced postgraduate course based on the Roth Williams philosophy and recently attended reconstructive courses to refine her expertise. Her move to Cape Town aligns with her belief in multidisciplinary care, allowing her to provide advanced treatments for patients with developmental issues related to breathing and airway problems.
