Physio Kids Claremont is a dedicated paediatric physiotherapy clinic. We focus on early identification and treatment of movement and development difficulties. Our goal is to support children—from infants to teens—as they build strength, improve coordination, and gain confidence in their movement.
Children learn through play and movement. But some need extra help. That’s where we come in. We use thoughtful, evidence-based therapies to support children facing developmental delays or physical challenges.
At our clinic, therapy is never dull. We use engaging, child-led activities that feel like play but are carefully designed to build important skills. We also work closely with families. This ensures that each child’s progress continues outside of the clinic too.
Shane has over 13 years of experience in child neurodevelopment. He holds a Master’s degree in Medicine, focusing on child neurodevelopmental health. His interest in physiotherapy began early—after receiving physio care himself as a child. Today, Shane combines multiple tools in his sessions, including M.A.E.S Therapy and General Movements Assessment. He believes every child deserves a chance to reach their potential.
Sarah qualified in 2009 and quickly found her passion working with children. She completed extra training in Neurodevelopmental Therapy (NDT) and M.A.E.S Therapy. Her warm, fun approach helps children feel at ease. Sarah sees each therapy journey as a partnership—with families, with kids, and with their goals.
We help children with a wide range of needs. Most children develop movement skills naturally, but others may need guidance. We work with those who:
Have motor delays or coordination problems
Struggle with strength or balance
Have a neurological condition
Show signs of atypical movement development
We also support children recovering from injury, illness, or surgery. Our sessions include hands-on work, playful tasks, and family education. We make sure therapy is practical and tailored to each child’s situation.
We also work with children who have Rett Syndrome, a rare neurological condition. Shane recently partnered with Rett SA for a Cape Town clinic, offering support alongside other health professionals. Using M.A.E.S Therapy, we focus on what each child finds hard, starting at the brain level. This allows us to design strategies that suit how they learn and move best.
The clinic brought families from all over the Western and Eastern Cape. It was a joyful, emotional, and eye-opening experience. The next clinic is planned for March 2024, and we’re already looking forward to it.
At Physio Kids Claremont, we believe in early support, expert care, and celebrating every small step forward. If you’re wondering whether your child might benefit, reach out to us—we’d love to meet you.
