Rachel is a highly experienced Paediatric Physiotherapist (BSc Hons, MCSP) and the founder of Play Move Grow in Norfolk. She has been working in physiotherapy since 2001, quickly specialising in paediatrics due to her passion for working with children. Rachel’s approach combines playfulness and creativity, making therapy enjoyable and effective for young clients.
Rachel spent nearly a decade working in the NHS, supporting children of all ages and their families. Her NHS career focused on early years and neonatal care, giving her valuable insight into how early experiences shape a child’s development. She understands the powerful potential of neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to adapt and change — especially when intervention happens early and timely.
Since leaving the NHS in 2015, Rachel has focused her private practice on infant and newborn development, sensory and motor skills, and the crucial role of early relationships in child growth. Before starting her practice, she worked as a developmental therapist with the neonatal team at The Royal London Hospital, helping families with babies born too sick or small to leave hospital. She supported their progress until the children reached two years of age.
Rachel’s personal experience as a mother of twins further deepened her understanding of infant and maternal mental health. This inspired her to become an infant massage instructor, a role she continues to enjoy today. She has also expanded her knowledge through advanced training with The Brazelton Centre, the Bayley’s Scale of Infant Development, and the Sensory Beginnings Master Course.
Play Move Grow specialises in paediatric physiotherapy, focusing on early childhood development, sensory and motor skills, and hypermobility. Rachel is trained in functional strengthening and injury prevention, particularly for children with joint hypermobility. Her background as a gymnast and sport scientist informs her work, allowing her to combine strength and conditioning with therapeutic intervention.
Additionally, Rachel offers Pilates-based therapy for children through training completed with the Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (APPI). This method helps children improve strength, stability, and coordination, reducing injury risks and supporting healthy physical development.
Rachel’s holistic approach considers not only physical health but also the emotional and social factors that influence child development. She supports families with education, guidance, and therapy tailored to each child’s unique needs.
Play Move Grow serves families throughout Norwich and Norfolk. Rachel remains available for consultations and therapy sessions by appointment, aiming to support children’s growth and wellbeing from infancy through early childhood.
