Play Therapy Bradford and Calderdale – Psychotherapist in Bradford

About Me

Welcome to Play Therapy Bradford and Calderdale. I’m Natalie Rees, an Accredited Play Therapist with over 20 years of experience. I specialise in supporting children and families to overcome emotional and behavioural challenges.

I began my career as a Primary School Teacher in Ireland in 2001. Later, I trained as a Certified and then an Accredited Play Therapist. This blend of teaching and therapeutic experience allows me to help children in both compassionate and professional ways.

Throughout my career, I have worked with children of all ages and held several roles, including Deputy Head Teacher, Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), and Therapeutic Poetry Workshop Facilitator. These positions have given me a strong understanding of the issues children face.

I follow the ethical guidelines of the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT). I also receive regular supervision from an Accredited Supervisor to ensure my practice remains safe and effective.

Services

Play Therapy

As an Accredited Play Therapist, I offer therapy sessions where children can express their feelings through play. Play therapy helps children cope with trauma, manage emotions, and improve behavioural issues.

Many children struggle to express themselves verbally. Play therapy provides a safe space where they can use play to work through their feelings. This approach is gentle and non-intrusive, allowing children to process emotions at their own pace.

Filial-Informed Therapy

Filial-Informed Therapy empowers parents to become active participants in their child’s therapy. Parents learn therapeutic techniques and use them at home, strengthening their bond with their child and supporting their emotional development.

This approach helps build stronger, more supportive family relationships and ensures that therapy continues beyond the sessions.

Special Educational Needs Support

I offer tailored therapy for children with special educational needs (SEN). My experience as a SENCO allows me to address specific challenges such as anxiety, social difficulties, and emotional regulation.

I design interventions that are personalised to each child’s unique needs, helping them manage and overcome challenges in their own way.

Educational Workshops and Support

I also run workshops for schools, parents, and carers. These workshops provide practical strategies for supporting children with emotional or behavioural difficulties. They help families and professionals understand children’s needs and equip them with tools to support emotional growth.

Additional Information

I am committed to the well-being of every child I work with. My approach focuses on trust, respect, and recognising that each child is unique.

I follow BAPT’s ethical guidelines and maintain the highest standards in my practice. I am listed on the BAPT register and receive fortnightly supervision to ensure I’m always improving.

If you are looking for effective therapy for your child, I am here to help. Please contact me to discuss how I can support your child’s emotional development.
