Prestons Health is a family-run, holistic healthcare provider based in Peterborough, with a rich history dating back to 1969. The Prestons family has nurtured a tradition of caring for patients through ethical, evidence-based practice for three generations. Their approach combines proven techniques that help patients recover and return to the activities they love.
The story began with Albert Preston, a remedial gymnast during the war, who settled in Peterborough in 1947. Albert served as Chief Physiotherapist at Thorpe Hall Rehabilitation Centre and worked with Peterborough United Football Club (POSH) for 25 years. He later continued private practice until the age of 75. Inspired by Albert, his sons William and George both became Chartered Physiotherapists in the 1960s. William worked at the National Spinal Injury Centre at Stoke Mandeville and served as Physiotherapist for the English Commonwealth Paraplegic Games in 1966, while George worked with Leicester Football Club. William founded Prestons Physiotherapy in 1969 on Alexandra Road, Peterborough.
The clinic grew steadily and underwent redevelopment in 1995, adding private treatment rooms, a rehabilitation studio, and an extensive free car park. In 2001, Helen Preston, William’s daughter, took over. Having qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist in 1996, Helen combined the art of strong therapeutic relationships with evidence-based science, emphasising both in successful patient care.
In 2013, Prestons Physiotherapy evolved into Prestons Health, reflecting a broadened focus on multidisciplinary, evidence-based, holistic healthcare. Today, Prestons Health is the largest independent healthcare provider in the Peterborough and Oundle areas.
Prestons Health offers a comprehensive range of therapies tailored to individual patient needs. The clinic brings together a variety of therapists, including physiotherapists, massage therapists, and holistic practitioners. This multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide care that addresses not only physical health but also emotional and mental wellbeing.
Patients benefit from personalised treatment plans designed to restore function, reduce pain, and promote long-term health. The clinic’s facilities include private treatment rooms and rehabilitation spaces equipped to support recovery from musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, and chronic health issues.
Prestons Health operates under a strong ethos developed over 40 years of patient care. The team values listening carefully to each patient’s story, ensuring treatment is responsive and compassionate. The family business continues to honour its heritage by maintaining high standards of ethical practice and ongoing commitment to research-based therapies.
The clinic is well established in the local community and prides itself on delivering a patient experience that combines traditional values with modern healthcare advancements. Whether you need physiotherapy, rehabilitation, or holistic support, Prestons Health offers a trusted and comprehensive service aimed at improving your overall wellbeing.
