I am a fully qualified and UKCP registered psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience in the field of psychotherapy. Since 2003, I have been offering private psychotherapy services to individuals seeking support with various emotional and psychological challenges. My training encompasses humanistic, psychoanalytic, and existential traditions, which I integrate into my work to tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs.
I hold an MA in psychotherapy and have a strong foundation in the field, which began after my studies at Edinburgh University in 1979. Initially, I worked as a chartered accountant in the City before moving to Wales in 1994. During the 1980s, I developed a growing interest in psychotherapy, which led me to complete various counselling trainings at institutions such as WPF, PPF, and CRUSE. I then furthered my education by training as a psychotherapist at the Bath Centre for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
As part of my psychotherapy training, I completed a 21-month placement in an outpatient mental health unit, where I provided therapy to patients. This hands-on experience gave me invaluable insights into the complexities of mental health and the therapeutic process, shaping the way I work with clients today.
As a psychotherapist, I offer a wide range of services designed to support individuals through various emotional and psychological challenges. My approach is flexible and can be adapted to meet the unique needs of each client. I work with both individuals and couples, providing a safe and confidential space for personal exploration and growth.
Individual psychotherapy sessions focus on helping clients understand and process their emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. I draw on different therapeutic modalities, such as humanistic, psychoanalytic, and existential approaches, to offer a holistic and person-centred therapy. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or self-esteem issues, I work collaboratively with you to explore and address your concerns in a way that is meaningful and transformative.
I also offer couples therapy for partners who are experiencing challenges in their relationship. Through open and respectful dialogue, I help couples identify the underlying causes of conflict and work together to develop healthier communication and emotional connections. Couples therapy can be an opportunity to strengthen bonds, enhance intimacy, and resolve issues that may be impacting the relationship.
In addition to treating mental health conditions, I also offer therapy for personal growth and self-exploration. If you’re seeking greater self-awareness, want to make meaningful life changes, or simply wish to understand yourself better, I provide a safe and nurturing space for this journey. We will work together to explore your inner life and help you develop a deeper connection to your authentic self.
My therapy practice is grounded in the belief that each individual has the potential for growth and change. With years of experience and a strong academic foundation, I bring a wealth of knowledge to my practice. Whether you’re struggling with a specific issue or looking to embark on a path of personal transformation, my goal is to support you every step of the way.
I understand that seeking therapy can feel like a big step, which is why I strive to create a warm, welcoming, and non-judgemental environment where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and emotions. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy, depending on your needs, and work collaboratively with you to help you achieve your goals.
If you’re ready to explore your inner world and start making positive changes, I am here to support you on that journey. You can contact me to arrange an initial consultation and begin your path towards emotional well-being and self-discovery.
