Renee Shearing Trauma Counselling Wynberg offers professional support for trauma, addiction, eating disorders, and emotional health challenges.
I am a Canadian-born Occupational Therapist. I now live and work in South Africa. I qualified in 1997 from the University of Cape Town. Since then, I have gained experience in the UK, Australia, and South Africa. I have worked in many treatment settings.
Over the past 20 years, I have built a strong focus on treating anxiety, addiction, eating disorders, stress, and trauma. I have worked in general hospitals and community settings. I have also worked in both government and private psychiatric hospitals. In addition, I have worked in leading drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres in South Africa. Since 2011, I have focused only on my private practice.
I offer therapy for many mental health conditions. These include depression, anxiety, OCD, and mood disorders. I also treat stress disorders, phobias, and personality disorders. In addition, I support clients with grief and relationship issues.
I help with eating disorders and self-harm. I also treat co-dependency and chemical dependency. Furthermore, I support clients with addictive behaviours and trauma, including PTSD.
I use a range of proven therapy methods. Each method supports healing in a simple and clear way.
Trauma Release Exercises help the body release stored trauma. EMDR helps process the mental impact of trauma. EFT uses tapping to reduce stress and emotional pain.
I also use Shamanic Energy Healing to clear trauma from the energy field. Motivational Interviewing helps clients find the drive to change. Family Constellations focus on family and generational healing.
In addition, I use the 12-Step approach for addiction recovery. I provide psycho-education to help clients understand their challenges. I also use the Model of Human Occupation to support daily life balance.
Over time, I have learned that trauma sits at the root of many mental health challenges. Because of this, I treat the body, mind, and spirit together.
I use TRE to support the body. I use EMDR to help the mind. I use Shamanic Healing to support the spirit. As a result, this approach creates deep and lasting change.
My practice focuses on care, understanding, and respect. I guide each client through their own healing journey. I work with individuals, families, and groups.
I also bring strong experience from working in multidisciplinary teams. This helps me provide high-quality care in every session.
If you feel overwhelmed by trauma, addiction, or anxiety, you are not alone. I offer a safe and supportive space where you can heal and grow.
