Dr. Katie Smith – Founder of Rouken Glen Psychology
Hello, I am Dr. Katie Smith, a clinical psychologist with a passion for helping individuals achieve their full potential. In 2019, I founded Rouken Glen Psychology to offer high-quality, client-centred psychological services. I aim to help individuals navigate life’s challenges and enhance their well-being.
At Rouken Glen Psychology, we provide psychological assessments and therapy for adults aged 18 and over. Many of our clients have experienced significant life changes, such as trauma, medical diagnoses, or other events affecting their mental health. We also support individuals who have struggled with mental health difficulties for years and are seeking a fresh approach. Additionally, we offer specialist psychological assessments and reports for the medical and medicolegal sectors, often as instructed by medical professionals and solicitors.
As a Chartered Psychologist, I hold a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Glasgow (2003). I also have over 20 years of experience working within the NHS in mental health and hospital recovery settings. I previously worked as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in a specialist Gender Identity Service. I continue to have a strong interest in gender dysphoria and related psychological support.
Psychological Therapy and Assessments
We offer a range of services at Rouken Glen Psychology, all tailored to your individual needs. Whether you are struggling with recent life events, ongoing mental health difficulties, or trauma, we are here to support you.
Our therapeutic services provide a safe and understanding space for healing. We use both short-term and long-term approaches, depending on your needs. The therapy we provide can help with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, and much more.
We believe in taking a holistic approach to therapy, ensuring each session is personalised and effective. In addition to evidence-based treatments such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), we incorporate other therapeutic techniques where necessary to support your progress.
We specialise in comprehensive psychological assessments for various needs, including diagnostic assessments for mental health conditions. We also provide reports for medical or legal purposes. Our detailed assessments offer insights, clarity, and direction for individuals and professionals.
Our gender dysphoria assessments help individuals experiencing distress about their gender identity. These assessments offer support and guidance to help individuals understand their needs and seek appropriate care.
We also provide expert psychological reports for legal purposes. Our reports assist solicitors, medical professionals, and insurance companies by offering objective, evidence-based evaluations. These reports can help clarify psychological matters in legal cases, providing support to all involved.
At Rouken Glen Psychology, we prioritise creating a welcoming and professional environment for all our clients. We offer a free introductory consultation to ensure that you find the right psychologist for your needs.
If you are referred to one of our associates, they will provide their own terms and conditions and take responsibility for the work you do together. Our associates bring diverse expertise to the practice. For example, Dr. Rasa Butrimaviciute is a Clinical Psychologist who focuses on helping clients work through difficult life experiences, improve relationships, and build self-esteem. With nine years of experience in NHS mental health services, Dr. Rasa integrates somatic approaches and trauma-focused therapy into her practice.
Whether you need psychological therapy, a diagnostic assessment, or a medicolegal report, we are here to help. Reach out to arrange your free introductory consultation and start your journey to better mental health with Rouken Glen Psychology.
