Description

Shannon Nielsen – Founder, Mentor, and Visionary Behind PhysioMotion Cairns

About Shannon

Shannon Nielsen, the Director and founder of PhysioMotion Cairns, is a proud local with deep ties to the Cairns community. She completed her Physiotherapy degree at James Cook University and began working in private practice immediately after graduating in 2011. Her passion for helping others and her commitment to quality care quickly set her apart in the field.

In 2016, Shannon launched PhysioMotion Cairns with a clear vision: to create a supportive clinic that puts people first — both clients and staff. Since then, she has grown the practice into a thriving, collaborative team of physiotherapists and administration professionals. The clinic’s strong reputation in Cairns is a direct result of Shannon’s leadership and her patient-focused approach.

In 2024, Shannon made the decision to step away from day-to-day clinical work. Instead, she now dedicates her time to mentoring the PhysioMotion team, supporting clinician growth, and guiding the strategic direction of the clinic. Her experience, however, still plays an important role in client care.

Clinical Support and Special Interests

While Shannon no longer sees regular clients, she remains available for second opinions and complex case consultations. She works closely with the team to ensure that every client receives well-rounded, high-quality treatment.

Shannon’s areas of clinical interest include:

  • Musculoskeletal conditions such as joint pain, injuries, and postural dysfunctions

  • Neurological conditions, including stroke recovery and mobility disorders

  • Paediatric physiotherapy, where she supports children with movement and developmental challenges

By staying actively involved in case reviews and team training, Shannon ensures that PhysioMotion continues to deliver evidence-based care grounded in practical experience.
