I am Shireen Gaur, a Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist based in Manchester with over 25 years of experience. My qualifications include being registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) and accredited by the United Kingdom Council of Psychotherapists (UKCP). I am also a Full Member of the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) and a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).
Starting my career in India, I have spent the last 20 years working in the NHS. In my current role, I provide consultation, support, and psychotherapy to adults facing complex mental health challenges. My experience spans a diverse range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, which I incorporate into my private practice.
In my work, I take an integrative approach, tailoring my methods to meet each client’s unique needs. Specialising in psychoanalytic and group analytic therapies, I help clients delve into their relationships, both past and present. I also consider the impact of family dynamics, social settings, and cultural influences on mental health.
I offer a variety of services:
Individual Psychotherapy: Using psychoanalytic and group analytic techniques, I provide a space for clients to explore their thoughts and emotions. This therapy is particularly helpful for issues like anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Group Psychotherapy: As a trained group analyst, I lead group therapy sessions that foster connection, self-awareness, and social integration.
Consultations: These one-off sessions help individuals gain clarity on specific personal or professional issues. Together, we identify potential solutions.
Online Therapy: For those unable to attend in person, I provide online therapy sessions, ensuring accessibility for clients across the UK.
I work with individuals facing challenges like relationship issues, identity concerns, and emotional trauma. By considering the whole person, my approach promotes long-term healing and personal growth.
Beyond my private practice, I contribute to the professional development of others in the field. I supervise trainee group analysts and provide supervision to qualified professionals in both individual and group settings. I also teach and provide training for various psychotherapy and psychology courses.
My combined experience in clinical practice and teaching allows me to offer clients a safe and understanding environment. In therapy, I help individuals explore complex aspects of their identity, such as difference, belonging, marginalisation, and areas of race, gender, and sexuality.
If you are seeking a thoughtful and personal approach to mental health, I encourage you to get in touch. Together, we can begin your journey towards healing and a balanced life.
