Simpson Clinical Psychology, led by Dr Fiona Simpson, provides expert psychological care right in the heart of Edinburgh. Dr Simpson, a Chartered Psychologist, has dedicated over 20 years to helping people of all ages overcome emotional and mental health challenges.
She began her career in the NHS, working across a variety of Adult Mental Health roles. In 2004, she decided to move into independent practice, where she could offer a more flexible and personalised service. Today, she continues to enjoy the richness and variety her practice offers.
Dr Simpson’s approach places clients at the centre of their own healing journey. Her focus remains firmly on creating an environment where individuals feel supported, heard, and empowered.
At Simpson Clinical Psychology, therapy is always tailored to each individual. Dr Simpson draws from several well-established psychological methods, ensuring clients receive the most effective support. Her services include:
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT): Helping clients break negative thinking patterns and develop healthier behaviours.
Person-Centred Counselling: Offering a supportive space to explore personal growth at a comfortable pace.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT): Strengthening communication skills and addressing relationship issues.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR): Facilitating emotional recovery, particularly from trauma and distressing memories.
Because psychological problems vary widely, Dr Simpson carefully selects the most suitable approach for each client. Her goal is to support lasting, meaningful change.
Dr Simpson believes that therapy should feel empowering. She uses collaborative goal setting and clear strategies to help her clients track their progress. Thanks to her broad clinical background, she understands the importance of adapting therapy to the individual, not the other way around.
At Simpson Clinical Psychology, clients benefit from a blend of professional expertise and compassionate care, all delivered in a confidential and respectful environment.
