ABOUT US

For over 60 years in Cape Town, Sisters Incorporated has played a critical role in supporting women and children in need. The organisation began as a refuge for single mothers and has since grown into a safe haven for women and their children.

Sisters Incorporated provides care without judgement, criticism, or bias. The organisation aims to empower each person who passes through its doors. As a result, women can become better equipped for their role in society.

SERVICES

Safe Haven and Support

We offer a secure and caring environment for women and their children. They can find refuge from dangerous and abusive situations. The organisation takes a holistic approach to care. Therefore, its support focuses on emotional, psychological, and physical well-being.

Skills Training and Personal Development

Skills training forms an important part of the therapeutic programme. Through creative activities and reflection, residents can better recognise their abilities, strengths, and potential.

These activities also help women set goals and take action towards them. As a result, the programme can support their personal healing process. It also gives women the tools they need to build a self-sustaining future.

International Partnerships and Collaborations

Sisters Incorporated works with several international partners and collaborators who support its mission.

• Global Linkages: Lorna Johnson, Principal of Global Linkages, has supported Sisters Incorporated for over 12 years. Through this partnership, over 200 individuals have engaged with the organisation through donations, training, and resources.
• Sister Cities International (SCI): As a philanthropic partner in the SCI 2023 Global Summit in Cape Town, Sisters Incorporated received generous financial and in-kind donations.
• On The Ball Foundation: The partnership with Kim Palmer, On The Ball College, and On The Ball Foundation has created new opportunities for women and children in care. Through this collaboration, Sisters Incorporated established a resource centre that supports learning and growth. Kim Palmer expressed gratitude for the opportunity to help change lives and spread hope for a better future.
• Good Hope Volunteers and Good Hope Studies: Good Hope Volunteers (GHV) and Good Hope Studies (GHS) support vulnerable communities and uplift people in need. Through their efforts, talented women at the refuge have showcased their handmade creations at the Newlands campus market. This initiative supports resilience and creativity while helping women develop self-sustaining skills.
