Meet Dr. Steven Flax

Dr. Steven Flax is a respected orthodontist known for his expertise and innovation. He founded Bigsmile Orthodontics and has earned many academic and professional achievements.

He holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (B.D.S), Master of Science in Dentistry (M.Sc. Dent), and Master of Dentistry in Orthodontics (M.Dent Orth) from the University of Witwatersrand.

Dr. Flax belongs to the South African Society of Orthodontists and is an International Member of the American Association of Orthodontists. He is also a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontics.

By 2023, he had successfully treated over 2,000 Invisalign cases and held the title of Premier Invisalign provider in Africa. He also served as President of the Dental Graduates Association at WITS and Chairman of the Fees Committee for the South African Society of Orthodontists. In addition, he remains active in research, lecturing, and mentoring within the orthodontic community.

Beyond orthodontics, Dr. Flax enjoys family time and equestrian sports, especially show jumping.
