TEARS Foundation GBV Support Sandton provides confidential, 24/7 help to anyone affected by gender-based violence, sexual abuse, or domestic violence. We offer free crisis support, guidance, counselling, and education. Survivors can access our services across South Africa at no cost.
TEARS Foundation started in 2012. Mara Glennie founded the organisation after surviving gender-based violence. Today, it stands as a women-led non-profit that supports victims of abuse. The team works closely with survivors and helps them heal and take back control of their lives. In addition, TEARS Foundation GBV Support Sandton has earned national trust for its crisis support and prevention work.
We offer a wide range of support services. Each service focuses on helping survivors feel safe and supported.
Our 24/7 toll-free helpline is always open. You can call 08000 TEARS or 08000 83277 for help at any time. You can also use the Support Locator by dialing 1347355#. This tool helps you find nearby support quickly.
We provide crisis support and advocacy. We guide survivors through difficult moments and help them understand their options. We also offer counselling and therapy sessions to support emotional healing. In addition, we run prevention education programs to raise awareness.
All services stay private and free. This approach ensures every survivor receives care that suits their needs.
The Speak Up campaign focuses on young people aged 13 to 26. It uses video content to teach and inform. The program explains the causes of gender-based violence. It also shows how to prevent abuse and encourages reporting. As a result, young people learn how to support themselves and others.
We help survivors find safe places fast. Our national network connects people to shelters and support centres. This system allows survivors to get help quickly and safely. At the same time, it protects their privacy.
You can support TEARS Foundation in many ways. You can volunteer your time or donate funds. Every contribution helps us continue our work. Donations support crisis care, counselling, and education programs. Volunteers help us reach more people in need.
Our teardrop logo stands for every tear a survivor has cried. It also represents hope and healing. We combine care, skill, and technology to provide fast support. From phone calls to online tools, we stay ready to help.
We continue to build a safer and more aware society. Every person deserves care, respect, and support after trauma.
