The Haven Night Shelter Cape Town provides temporary shelter, physical care, social welfare services, and family reunification support to people in need.
The Shelter was founded in 1978 in Cape Town, South Africa, with the belief that no one should have to live on the streets. Since then, the organisation has worked to support people who experience homelessness.
Its mission goes beyond providing a bed for the night. The Haven helps people rebuild their lives and return to society. Therefore, its services focus on care, support, personal development, and family reunification.
The organisation works through partnerships with religious institutions, businesses, government bodies, and other welfare organisations. Together, these partnerships create a sustainable network that helps ensure nobody has to survive on the streets.
We offer secure and welcoming temporary accommodation for homeless adults. The shelters provide food, care, and a structured environment for people who are willing to work towards reintegration.
Dedicated social workers conduct in-depth assessments for each client. They then help individuals develop a Personal Development Plan (PDP). This tailored plan sets out the steps each client needs to take to achieve stability and reintegration.
Family reunification plays an important role in ending homelessness. Therefore, fieldworkers work to trace families, make contact, and arrange safe travel home for people who wish to reunite with their relatives.
Fieldworkers also engage with homeless individuals on the streets. They encourage people to seek shelter and access the support available through The Haven.
The Haven encourages responsibility and independence. As part of this approach, clients contribute towards their stay at The Haven. Clients can also work within the shelter to earn their stay.
Professionals at The Haven Night Shelter work closely with clients throughout their journey. They support rehabilitation and help individuals work towards reintegration into society.
By contributing to us, you help the organisation offer individuals a second chance at life. Every contribution supports the work needed to provide care, shelter, and opportunities for people in need.
