About Waitt Physiotherapy

Waitt Physiotherapy is a small, specialist clinic based in the Braids area of Edinburgh. Founded in 2013 by Dawn Waitt, a Chartered Physiotherapist (MCSP) registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), the clinic focuses on musculoskeletal and sports injury treatment. Additionally, we offer consultations for women’s pelvic, obstetric, and gynaecological health.

Dawn brings over 40 years of hands-on experience to the clinic, with the majority spent specialising in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Her approach combines clinical expertise with a strong emphasis on personalised care, ensuring every patient receives a treatment plan tailored to their needs.

Musculoskeletal and Sports Injury Rehabilitation

Women’s Health Physiotherapy

We also offer expert care for women experiencing pelvic, obstetric, or gynaecological issues. Our women’s health consultations provide a private, supportive environment where you can feel comfortable discussing sensitive matters. Every session is designed to help restore confidence, movement, and wellbeing.

Advanced Clinical Assessment

Dawn’s background includes managing outpatient services at St John’s Hospital for 18 years. She also worked for 16 years as an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner in NHS Lothian’s Primary Care services. Her skills include spinal assessments, orthopaedic triage, injection therapy, and radiology referrals, allowing for a streamlined patient journey.

Furthermore, Dawn’s role as a lecturer and postgraduate educator has strengthened her diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills, which directly benefits her patients.

Additional Information

A Personal Touch

Dawn’s passion for sport and outdoor activities — including running, hiking all of Scotland’s Munros, cycling, and skiing — means she fully understands the physical demands placed on the body. Additionally, her experience raising two sons involved in competitive sports gives her valuable insight into sports injury management across different age groups.
