Dr. Sanelisiwe Balfour (fondly known as Dr. Nellie), is the first private general paediatrician at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital in Parktown. Having lived in Australia with her family as a young child and often being admitted to hospital as an asthmatic, this motivated her to become a paediatrician. Her years in medical school and as a doctor have solidified her love for medicine and deepened her passion for helping people.

The fuel behind her fire is in wanting to make sure that the little humans entrusted to her care can be healthy enough to one day live their own dreams. For Dr. Nellie, this isn’t just a passion, it’s a calling.
