Description

Clinical Psychologist – Professional Psychotherapy Services

About

As a registered Clinical Psychologist (HPCSA registration number: PS 0131431), I provide clinical assessment and psychotherapy services for children, adolescents, adults, and couples. My approach is tailored to the unique needs of each individual, ensuring a compassionate and effective therapeutic experience.

My practice is primarily rooted in an integrative Psychodynamic framework, which means that therapy not only aims to reduce symptoms but also seeks to uncover the deeper underlying reasons for their development. This process fosters long-term emotional growth and self-awareness. I place a strong emphasis on creating a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, as this is fundamental to facilitating meaningful change.

In addition to Psychodynamic Therapy, I incorporate other evidence-based psychotherapies, including:

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – Particularly effective for emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
  • Schema Therapy – Aimed at identifying and addressing deeply ingrained negative patterns.
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) – A structured, goal-oriented approach to managing anxiety, depression, and other difficulties.

I hold a range of academic qualifications from Stellenbosch University, including:

  • Bachelor of Social Work
  • BA (Honours) in Psychology
  • MA in Psychology
  • MA in Clinical Psychology & Community Counselling

My clinical internship was completed at Fort England Psychiatric Hospital in Grahamstown, followed by a community service year at the Department of Corrections in the Southern Cape. Furthering my expertise, I undertook formal training in DBT and Schema Therapy in New Zealand, where I worked for two years as a Clinical Psychologist for the New Zealand Department of Corrections.
