About

Our Orthodontist – Dr Damstra
Dr Damstra was born and raised in Pretoria and qualified as a dentist at the University of Pretoria. While in private practice, he earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Dentistry (Cum Laude) and an Honours Degree in Dental Science (Cum Laude) from Stellenbosch University.

He furthered his expertise with an Advanced Study Programme in Orthodontics for International Dentists at New York University (NYU) and obtained a Master of Science degree (Odontology) at the University of Pretoria. After completing his specialist orthodontic training at the University Medical Centre Groningen, Netherlands, he successfully defended his thesis on 3D imaging in orthodontics, earning a Doctorate Degree in Medical Science (PhD) from the University of Groningen.

Dr Damstra is one of the few orthodontists in South Africa with a Doctorate degree. He is registered with the HPCSA as a specialist orthodontist and is a member of the South African Society of Orthodontists (SASO) and the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO). He is also an active researcher, having authored and co-authored 20 international scientific papers and articles, and serves as a reviewer for several renowned orthodontic journals.

Your First Visit
Your initial consultation includes a clinical examination where our orthodontist assesses your teeth and bite. If orthodontic treatment is needed, we take orthodontic records, which help in diagnosis, treatment planning, and providing a detailed quotation.
