Dr Jacques van Wyk is a highly skilled cardiothoracic surgeon specialising in adult and paediatric heart and lung procedures. Based at Mediclinic Panorama, one of South Africa’s premier cardiothoracic surgery centres, he is part of a dedicated team that delivers advanced surgical care for coronary artery disease, heart valve conditions, aortic disorders, and heart failure.

Dr van Wyk, originally from Sutherland in the Karoo, completed his medical and specialist training at Stellenbosch University and the College of Medicine of South Africa. After working as a consultant at Tygerberg Hospital, he pursued a fellowship in cardiac surgery at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford (2005), where he gained expertise in LVAD implantation and aortic surgery.
He played a pivotal role in launching the TAVI and structural heart programme in Cape Town in 2009. Since then, the Panorama-Vergelegen collaboration has performed over 300 TAVI cases, making it the leading centre in South Africa.

Dr Vogts, originally from Betty’s Bay, completed his medical and surgical training at Stellenbosch University. He later gained international experience in the USA before returning to private practice in 1995. His expertise focuses on adult cardiac and general surgery.

Dr Du Preez completed his specialist training in 2003 and gained dual qualifications in cardiothoracic surgery and anaesthesiology & critical care. He worked at Tygerberg Hospital as a consultant, where he managed cardiothoracic intensive care units and introduced minimally invasive Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS). He joined the Panorama Cardiothoracic team in 2017.
