As a trained counsellor, I focus on working with adults struggling with mental health issues. Nicola Thornton Counsellor Bradford is dedicated to helping people find a path through their pain and look toward healing. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or the loss of a loved one, I offer a safe and understanding space for you to express your emotions and find clarity.
I work in accordance with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework. This ensures I offer a reliable, ethical, and empathetic service for my clients. Nicola Thornton Counsellor Bradford focuses on providing the emotional support you need to manage grief and loss. Through active listening and genuine empathy, I will help you process your emotions and make sense of your experience.
By building a strong, trusting relationship, I empower clients to take steps toward recovery. Together, we will explore ways to cope with the loss, while also focusing on mental health and future well-being.
Over the years, I have gathered a wealth of experience in bereavement counselling. My journey began with a two-year placement at a hospice in Leeds, where I worked closely with bereaved families. This invaluable experience allowed me to witness the power of counselling in times of profound loss. Additionally, I spent several years working in funeral care, where I supported individuals grieving the death of loved ones.
Furthermore, I volunteered for six years with a prominent mental health charity. There, I honed my listening skills and became a mentor and trainer for other volunteers. This role reinforced my commitment to helping people facing grief and terminal diagnoses.
I hold an ABC Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, which I earned at Leeds City College. My training is supported by extensive safeguarding education. I continually pursue professional development opportunities, including those related to bereavement and mental health care. As a member of BACP, I am dedicated to keeping my skills and knowledge up to date.
If you’re ready to begin your counselling journey, I offer a free initial phone consultation. This gives us a chance to discuss your needs and see if we’re a good fit. If we decide to move forward, we will schedule a 50-minute in-person session. This session will focus on forming a client-therapist contract to ensure clarity in our work together.
We will then explore your needs through an initial six sessions, with further reviews to ensure your therapy is progressing.
