He leads corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery services with over twenty years of specialist experience. He graduated with First Class Honours in Medical Sciences and MB BChir from the University of Cambridge in 1996. Subsequently, he completed a PhD in corneal stem cell biology at Newcastle University in 2009. He trained at world‑renowned units, including Moorfields Eye Hospital. In 2011, he joined University Hospitals Birmingham as lead consultant for complex cataract and refractive cases. Moreover, he lectures nationally and holds an honorary professorship at Aston University.
At Newmedica Birmingham, Professor Kolli provides:
Cataract Surgery
He performs high‑volume cataract procedures and manages complex cases involving short‑sight, long‑sight, astigmatism, and presbyopia. Furthermore, he fits premium lenses—toric, trifocal, and extended depth‑of‑field implants—to optimise visual outcomes.
Refractive Surgery
He offers laser vision correction, including LASIK, PRK, LASEK, implantable contact lenses (ICL), and refractive lens exchange (RLE). Additionally, he tailors each plan to match patient lifestyle and visual goals.
Corneal Surgery
He treats keratoconus and corneal dystrophies with advanced grafting and resurfacing techniques. Consequently, patients benefit from restored corneal clarity and reduced dependence on corrective lenses.
YAG Laser Treatment
He uses precision lasers for posterior capsulotomy and peripheral iridotomy, thereby restoring vision clarity and preventing angle‑closure events.
Dry Eye & Ocular Surface Disease
He delivers specialised therapies for dry eye syndrome and other surface disorders. Moreover, he applies targeted treatments such as punctal plugs and Meibomian gland therapies.
Glaucoma Management
He diagnoses and treats all glaucoma stages with medical and surgical protocols to preserve long‑term vision. In addition, he monitors patients with optical coherence tomography.
Newmedica Birmingham operates from Aqueous One, Aston Cross Business Village, offering both NHS‑funded and private pathways. The clinic features state‑of‑the‑art optical coherence tomography (OCT), optical biometry, and corneal topography for precise diagnostics. Moreover, it houses advanced phacoemulsification systems, digital operating microscopes, and a dedicated laser suite. A patient education suite ensures clear guidance through every treatment step. Furthermore, private recovery bays and accessible parking enhance comfort. The team hosts community screening events to promote early detection and prevent sight loss.
