My name is Courtney Lang, and I’m a qualified Psychotherapist based in Manchester. I hold a BSc Honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy and have worked in mental health since 2013. Over the years, I’ve supported people across a broad range of settings—within the NHS, IAPT services, charities, and schools. Since launching my private practice in 2020, I’ve delivered over 3,000 hours of one-to-one therapy.
Through every role, I’ve met individuals from all walks of life who’ve faced emotional challenges. From anxiety and depression to grief, trauma, and abuse, my approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and connection. I understand the courage it takes to begin therapy, and I aim to offer a warm, non-judgemental space where people can feel safe and heard.
Though I’m a trained professional, I’ve also walked the path of personal healing. Like many, I’ve faced times when I felt lost and disconnected. After the loss of a loved one, I began my own therapeutic journey. That experience shaped the therapist I am today—one who truly understands pain, recovery, and growth.
I provide therapy for a wide range of emotional and psychological concerns. These include:
Anxiety
Low mood and depression
Relationship issues
Attachment difficulties
Bereavement and grief
Trauma and PTSD
Childhood abuse and neglect
Sexual and domestic abuse
Self-harming behaviours
Addiction
Living with chronic illness
In addition to general therapy, I offer more focused work in two specialised areas:
This trauma-informed approach helps clients connect with parts of themselves shaped by early experiences. By addressing unresolved pain from the past, inner child work can lead to deep emotional healing. I frequently use this technique to support those recovering from trauma, neglect, or emotional disconnection.
Our earliest relationships influence how we connect with others. Whether you struggle with trust, fear of abandonment, or difficulty forming healthy bonds, I’ll help you explore your attachment style and its impact on current relationships.
Beyond therapy sessions, I also run workshops for fellow professionals and organisations. These sessions aim to open up honest conversations about mental health and promote emotional wellbeing in both personal and professional environments.
My approach is collaborative. I believe therapy works best when we explore challenges together, at your pace, with tools that suit your needs. Whether you’re struggling with recent events or long-standing difficulties, I’m here to support you with empathy and clinical insight.
