Cornelia Huysamen Physiotherapist Alberton is part of Family Physiotherapy, a trusted healthcare practice that has provided comprehensive physiotherapy treatments in Alberton since 2014. Since opening, the practice has grown steadily while focusing on high-quality patient care.
Family Physiotherapy uses the latest techniques and equipment to help restore muscle and joint function. In addition, the qualified physiotherapists use evidence-based treatments to support healing, ease pain, and improve overall health.
All physiotherapists are registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP). Patients also do not need a referral letter because physiotherapists are first-line healthcare providers.
The team treats many muscle and joint injuries. Treatment aims to reduce pain, restore movement, improve function, and help prevent future injuries.
Conditions treated include:
Family Physiotherapy also provides rehabilitation for neurological conditions. For example, the team helps patients recovering from strokes, brain injuries, and other neurological issues. Treatment focuses on functional movement and independence.
After surgery, physiotherapy can support recovery in several ways. The team helps manage pain, improve mobility, and rebuild strength through personalised post-operative rehabilitation plans.
The practice treats respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, and pneumonia. These treatments aim to improve lung function and make breathing easier.
Women’s health is another area of expertise. The team treats pelvic floor dysfunction, provides pre- and post-natal care, and manages general musculoskeletal concerns related to women’s health.
Cornelia Huysamen, the owner of Family Physiotherapy, is a passionate physiotherapist with extensive private-sector experience. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Pretoria in 2009. She then earned her Master of Science in Physiotherapy, with distinction, from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2017.
Cornelia has also completed several postgraduate courses, including Dry Needling, Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT), and Women’s Health. In addition, she has contributed to the field through her published work.
The Family Physiotherapy team includes Yani Meyer, who joined the practice in 2023, and Lena Le Roux, who has extensive experience working with children, especially children with special needs. Therefore, each team member takes a personalised approach to care and considers every patient’s specific needs.
Family Physiotherapy aims to create a warm and caring environment while providing high-quality, evidence-based physiotherapy. The practice helps patients work towards living pain-free, improving mobility, and reaching their full potential.
