Dr Jocelyn Hellig is an experienced endocrinologist in Claremont, Cape Town, specializing in internal medicine and endocrinology. She offers advanced care for patients with a variety of endocrine and metabolic disorders. As a result, she has become a trusted specialist in her field.
Dr Hellig graduated cum laude with her MBChB from University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2008. She completed her internship at McCord Hospital in Durban. Afterward, she returned to Cape Town for her community service at GF Jooste Hospital in Mannenberg, which significantly influenced her love for internal medicine.
In 2012, she began her registrar training in internal medicine at Tygerberg Hospital. She successfully completed her training in 2015. During this time, she also served as vice-chairperson of the registrar committee. Furthermore, she was passionate about undergraduate teaching.
Dr Hellig earned her Certificate in Endocrinology and Metabolism cum laude in 2017. She has also presented her research on diabetes at several local conferences. Additionally, she has published her work in local journals. Dr Hellig keeps a strong academic link with the endocrinology division at Tygerberg Hospital. She is an active member of SEMDSA and NOFSA.
Currently, Dr Hellig is pursuing her MPhil at Stellenbosch University. Her research, therefore, focuses on osteoporosis and distal radius fractures.
Dr Hellig is deeply committed to postgraduate teaching and healthcare improvement. Over the years, she has presented her research at multiple conferences. In addition, her research interests include osteoporosis, diabetes, and metabolic diseases.
When Dr Hellig isn’t working or studying, she enjoys visiting coffee shops, exploring the Zeitz MOCAA, and spending time with friends. Moreover, she loves cooking large meals for her loved ones.
