About Hugo Orthodontist Floracliffe

Dr. Hugo brings more than 38 years of private practice experience. He has also helped develop new orthodontic techniques and published several articles. Dr. Taunyane brings fresh energy to the team. She is one of the youngest qualified orthodontists in South Africa and takes a highly motivated, patient-focused approach.

Both orthodontists follow a similar approach to care. As a result, patients can expect consistent treatment throughout their orthodontic journey.

Orthodontic Treatment Options

Hugo Orthodontist Floracliffe offers several treatment options to suit each patient’s needs.

Clear Aligners: Patients can choose Hugo Aligners, Invisalign, or Spark clear aligners. These removable aligners gradually straighten the teeth when patients wear them for 20–22 hours each day. They are effective, easy to clean, and discreet.

Conventional Braces: Metal, ceramic, or lingual braces can treat a wide range of orthodontic problems. These braces use brackets, archwires, and elastics to move the teeth into the desired position.

Elastics: Elastics help correct the bite and align the upper and lower arches. Patients should wear them as prescribed because consistent wear remains important for achieving the desired results.

Clear Retainers: After treatment, patients can use clear retainers to help maintain the position of their teeth. They are discreet and easy to maintain.

Dr. Andre Hugo: Dr. Hugo qualified as an orthodontist in 1983. He has been a member of SASO for more than three decades. He pioneered lingual orthodontics and has made significant contributions to orthodontic education and practice. He also has a keen interest in aligner treatment.

Dr. Keitumetse Taunyane: Dr. Taunyane qualified as an orthodontist in 2020 and has been a SASO member since 2016. She graduated in the top three of her class and has a passion for helping patients achieve beautiful smiles.

Appointments and Long-Term Care

Due to high demand, Dr. Hugo’s appointment book can fill up to 8 weeks ahead for routine checkups. Therefore, rescheduling may result in a longer wait. However, Dr. Taunyane offers more flexibility, which makes last-minute changes and rescheduling easier.

Patients treated by Dr. Taunyane can expect long-term care because she plans to continue practising for many years. In contrast, Dr. Hugo plans to retire within the next decade.
