About Martin Dutton

I am Martin Dutton, a registered Clinical Psychologist offering evidence-based treatments and psychotherapy to both adults and adolescents. My primary focus is Anxiety Disorders and Depression, though I also address other emotional and psychological challenges.

I became a psychologist because of my personal experience with anxiety and depression, which began in my adolescence. Throughout my youth, I felt misunderstood and struggled to find the right treatment. After years of searching, I found professionals who helped me manage my anxiety and depression. This experience inspired me to help others achieve the same.

My personal journey has shown me that recovery is possible. With the right treatment, anxiety and depression can be managed effectively. I am here to support you through this process and help you reclaim control of your life.

Therapeutic Approach and Philosophy

I use an eclectic approach to therapy, adapting to the needs of each client. I draw from a range of modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). This flexibility allows me to tailor therapy to address the specific issues you face.

I aim to create a safe, collaborative, and non-judgmental environment for my clients. You can explore your challenges openly, and together we will work to develop effective strategies for managing your difficulties. Therapy is not just about understanding your issues but also about taking action to improve your well-being.

I believe that the therapeutic relationship is key to success. I will work authentically and collaboratively with you to achieve your goals. My focus is always on your well-being and personal growth.

Services Offered

Adolescent Individual Therapy (12-17 years)

I offer individual therapy for adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17. This therapy can be short-term (12-15 sessions) or long-term, depending on the adolescent’s needs. We begin with an information-gathering phase that includes sessions with the adolescent’s parents and individual sessions with the adolescent. After gathering the necessary information, I will provide a diagnosis and treatment plan, which we will review together.

We will discuss session frequency and proceed with therapy. At the end of therapy, I conduct a termination session to reflect on the journey and bring it to a meaningful close.

Adult Individual Therapy (18 years and older)

For adults, I offer therapy starting at 18 years and older. Therapy can be short-term (12-15 sessions) or long-term, depending on your goals. The first few sessions are dedicated to gathering personal and symptom history. This helps me gain a full understanding of the challenges you are facing.

Afterward, we will discuss the recommended treatment plan and set the frequency of sessions. Therapy will progress, and we will continually assess how things are going. Once therapy concludes, we will hold a termination session to reflect on the process and ensure a thoughtful closure.
