Caren Fleishman Physiotherapist Alberton has been a dedicated professional in the field for over 30 years. She joined the practice in 1993 and continues to provide expert physiotherapy care. Based at the Oakdene practice, she brings extensive knowledge and hands-on experience to her patients.
Caren earned a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1988. She later obtained a Master of Science in Physiotherapy in 1998. Her passion for continued learning led her to complete a post-graduate diploma in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (OMT1) in 1996.
Caren specializes in treating neuromusculoskeletal injuries, with a strong focus on shoulder and sports-related conditions. She also has a keen interest in pain management. Her years of experience, both in practice and on the sports field, make her a sought-after physiotherapist.
Caren has traveled extensively, providing physiotherapy support at national and international sporting events. She served as a physiotherapist for South Africa’s medical team in four Olympic Games. These included Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, Beijing 2008, and London 2012. Additionally, she contributed her expertise at three All Africa Games and two Maccabiah Games.
Her leadership roles include serving as chief physiotherapist for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India. She also worked as a senior physiotherapist at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.
Caren has played a pivotal role in South African sports physiotherapy. She worked with the South African Women’s Soccer team (Banyana Banyana) and the men’s baseball team for many years. In 1997, she attended the spring training camps for the Atlanta Braves and Chicago White Sox. She also served as chief physiotherapist for referees at the 1995 Rugby World Cup.
Caren Fleishman Physiotherapist Alberton values education and professional development. She teaches and examines on the OMT1 diploma. She has also taught and examined for the post-graduate Sports Physiotherapy diploma (SPT1). Additionally, she presents courses and workshops on shoulder rehabilitation and elastic taping.
Caren received a lifetime membership from the Orthopaedic Manipulative Physiotherapy Group (OMPTG) for her exceptional contributions. In 2018, the South Gauteng Sports Physiotherapy Group (SPG) honored her for her achievements in sports physiotherapy.
Caren has shared her expertise on multiple media platforms. She appeared on Radio 702’s “Medically Speaking” and “House Call” on SABC2. She also provided insights on physiotherapy during National Physiotherapy Back Week in 2015.
Caren enjoys traveling and follows major sporting events. She stays active by exercising regularly and enjoys reading and movies in her spare time.
