About

Dr. Tandiswa Lusu is a dedicated Clinical Radiation Oncologist at the ABJ Wilgers Oncology Centre in Die Wilgers, Pretoria. She earned her MBChB in 1998 from the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Between 1998 and 2005, she worked in the Eastern Cape and helped establish the first Antiretroviral (ARV) Clinic at Cecilia Makiwane Hospital in Mdantsane. In July 2005, she moved to Johannesburg to work with Right to Care on HIV/AIDS initiatives. That same year, she obtained a Diploma in HIV Medicine. Furthermore, she joined the Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) by 2008 and played a key role in the NIMART rollout.

Her interest in oncology ignited in 2009 after a personal loss to cancer. Consequently, in 2011 she joined the Oncology Department at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital as a medical officer. Later, she secured a registrar position and qualified as an oncologist in October 2018. Moreover, she gained further experience at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital and Addington Hospital. In December 2023, she proudly joined the ABJ Oncology team. As a result, Dr. Lusu now provides expert and compassionate care using the latest treatment modalities.
