At A Happy Place, we provide specialised counselling and coaching for children, teenagers, and adults who are neurodivergent, including those with ADHD, autism (ASD), and PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance). Our approach is neurodiversity-affirming, meaning we embrace and support the unique strengths and challenges of each individual.
Whether you or your child have recently received a diagnosis or have been navigating neurodiversity for years, we offer guidance, practical strategies, and emotional support. We create a safe, understanding environment where everyone can be their authentic selves without judgment.
We work with individuals across the autism spectrum (Levels 1–3), whether they communicate verbally or non-verbally. Our services include:
Supporting high-masking Level 1 autistic individuals, formerly referred to as Asperger’s Syndrome.
Helping late-diagnosed autistic individuals navigate their identity.
Assisting those with AuDHD (a combination of autism and ADHD) in managing daily challenges.
Providing tailored counselling for individuals with ADHD, sensory sensitivities, and executive functioning difficulties.
Receiving an autism, ADHD, or PDA diagnosis—whether for yourself or your child—can feel overwhelming. We offer parent coaching and guidance to help families understand neurodiversity and develop practical strategies to create a supportive home environment.
Key areas of focus include:
Understanding PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and learning the 5A framework for a PDA-friendly lifestyle.
Managing sensory sensitivities and creating a sensory-friendly environment.
Building effective communication strategies tailored to neurodivergent individuals.
Providing tools to support emotional regulation and reduce anxiety.
Our counselling services are tailored to the unique needs of children, teens, and adults. Sessions are age-appropriate and focus on a variety of challenges, including:
Anxiety and stress management
Low self-esteem and confidence building
Relationship and social difficulties
Academic pressure and school-related stress
Emotional regulation and healthy expression of emotions
Managing peer pressure and bullying
Support for individuals with PDA traits and behavioural challenges
Grief, loss, and life transitions
We believe that counselling should extend beyond the session. Our WhatsApp support line is available for clients to check in, ask questions, and receive additional guidance.
For parents of child and teenage clients, we provide ongoing parent guidance after each session. While respecting the confidentiality of the child, we offer insights into their progress, share strategies to use at home, and answer any questions. This ensures that families have the tools they need to reinforce positive changes and support their child’s well-being.
