I was having a terrible day and just needed someone to vent to. Lindi, my human ray of sunshine of a friend is amazing. But her timing can be…well, let’s just say she caught me at the wrong moment.
Usually, her inspirational quotes and advice is helpful. But right then, all I wanted to do was crawl under my desk and never come out.
Throwing a shoe at her wasn’t entirely out of the question (don’t worry, I wouldn’t actually do it… maybe).
Thankfully, Lindi’s got empathy superpowers. She saw right through my meltdown and didn’t take my snapping personally. We laugh about it now, but back then, it was rough.
It actually reminds me of her “post-it note stage” at work.
This was a time of peak Lindi optimism, when she decided to fight office negativity with positivity. She’d leave little notes on people’s desks – “good vibes!” “happy times!” – except, these weren’t for your average colleague.
These were for the real a*holes. The ones who’d steal your lunch, take credit for your work, and leave passive-aggressive voicemails.
You can imagine the chaos. People didn’t know if they were being praised or mocked. Morale didn’t exactly skyrocket. But hey, at least the a*holes knew they were being a*holes! Lindi, ever the optimist, called it a “an intervention.” The rest of us just called it awkward.
The post-it note stage was a disaster, sure. But it highlights what makes Lindi, Lindi. Even when her sunshine is blinding, even when her good vibes feel out of place, she’s always there, radiating positivity in her own, well-meaning way.
And maybe under all that cheer, there’s a tiny bit of truth. Maybe sometimes, even in the darkest of days, a little “good vibes” can be the push we need to get back on our feet.
