Vassilis Hadjianastassiou General Surgeon London leads with skill, compassion, and more than 15 years of consultant-level experience. He graduated from the University of Oxford Medical School and completed a doctorate in abdominal aortic aneurysms. Afterward, he achieved dual GMC accreditation in General and Vascular Surgery. His training in the Oxford and London Deaneries laid a strong clinical foundation.
In 2008, Professor Hadjianastassiou became a Consultant Surgeon at Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Hospitals. During his time there, he also served as the Clinical Lead for pancreas transplantation. In 2011, the Cyprus Ministry of Health recruited him to restructure the national organ transplantation system. As a result, he became the founding Medical Director of Transplantation in Cyprus.
In addition, he joined the government’s advisory committee as one of only two vascular surgery experts. These leadership roles underline his commitment to innovation and quality care.
Today, Professor Hadjianastassiou practices at the Royal London Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust. He focuses on vascular surgery, kidney transplantation, and general surgery. Notably, he specialises in the surgical care of patients with renal failure. His clinical expertise spans a wide range of procedures, from laparoscopic hernia repair to endovascular stenting.
Beyond clinical work, Professor Hadjianastassiou actively promotes surgical education. He serves as an examiner for the European Diploma of Transplant Surgery and the MRCS qualification from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He also holds the role of full Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Nicosia Medical School since 2013.
Moreover, he frequently lectures at international conferences. His published research contributes meaningfully to the global surgical community.
While technical skill defines his work, his values set him apart. Professor Hadjianastassiou believes every patient deserves dignity, time, and respect. He considers not just their diagnosis but also their personal priorities—family, work, and life goals. This humanistic philosophy drives better patient outcomes and builds lasting trust.
