Welcome to The Bristol Therapist. I am a fully registered UKCP Gestalt Psychotherapist, practising in the heart of Bristol, just moments from Bristol Beacon and Park Street. I hold a Master’s degree in Gestalt Psychotherapy from the University of Birmingham, having completed my core training at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute. In addition, I have undertaken specialist training in Somatic Trauma Therapy with renowned trauma expert Babette Rothschild.
My decision to become a psychotherapist stemmed from a deep desire to contribute meaningfully to the world. I view psychotherapy as a liberating process—one that offers freedom from suffering and, equally importantly, the freedom to live fully and authentically. These freedoms emerge through a process of deep self-exploration, discovery, and ultimately transformation.
Gestalt therapy provides a dynamic framework to support this journey. It invites us to focus on the present moment, to become aware of our patterns, and to uncover choices we may not realise we have. For me, this therapeutic approach is not only healing—it is profoundly empowering.
I provide one-to-one sessions for adults who wish to explore emotional difficulties, recurring patterns, or a sense of being “stuck”. These sessions offer a safe, confidential space to deepen self-awareness and facilitate meaningful change.
Gestalt therapy places emphasis on the “here and now” of experience. In our sessions, we will explore not just what is happening, but how it is happening—emotionally, physically, and relationally. This attention to your moment-to-moment experience helps uncover how past experiences shape your current responses.
While I work with a broad range of emotional and psychological challenges, I have particular interest and experience in the following areas:
Depression – exploring the loss of vitality and disconnection from meaning.
Trauma – helping you reconnect with safety and stability through somatic awareness.
Existential Crisis – working through deep questions of meaning, identity, and belonging.
These experiences often mark a rupture between a person and their sense of satisfaction or connection to the world. In my experience, such moments, though painful, can also offer fertile ground for transformation and healing.
I believe psychotherapy can serve two equally powerful functions. At its foundation, it offers a healing balm to the wounded human spirit. At its most profound, it provides a way to use our suffering as a stepping stone toward a more awakened and authentic life. It is this dual potential that inspires my work and shapes my practice.
Whether you're seeking support in a moment of distress or are ready to engage in a deeper journey of change, I invite you to reach out. Together, we can explore what freedom means for you—both freedom from pain and freedom to be.
