The Liverpool Psychology Practice offers professional psychological support for individuals facing mental health challenges. Dr. Peter Dargan, a Clinical Psychologist, leads our practice. With years of experience in adult mental health care, Dr. Dargan works primarily in NHS secondary services and offers private sessions two days a week at the practice.
We focus on delivering individualised care, using evidence-based therapies to support clients in overcoming difficulties such as trauma, anxiety, and body-image issues. Our goal is to help people regain control and improve their well-being.
Psychological Assessment and Therapy
We begin with a thorough psychological assessment to understand your unique needs. This allows us to create a tailored therapy plan. We draw on multiple therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Our services include:
Trauma and Post-Trauma Support
We provide support for individuals struggling with trauma. Whether it’s due to a specific event or ongoing stress, we help clients process their experiences and begin healing.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Anxiety
If you suffer from OCD, anxiety, panic attacks, or phobias, we offer specialised therapy. Our approach aims to reduce distress and help you regain control over your life.
Body Image and Body Dysmorphia
Struggling with body-image issues? We offer support for body dysmorphia and related concerns. Our therapy helps you build a healthier relationship with your body and improve self-esteem.
Consultation for Surgical Readiness
In addition to therapy, Dr. Dargan provides consultation to surgical teams in the North-West. This includes assessing patients’ psychological readiness for surgery. By providing advice and support, we help medical teams make ethical decisions for patients at risk of psychological distress.
At The Liverpool Psychology Practice, we prioritise a safe, supportive, and confidential space for our clients. We believe in an approach centred around you—your experiences, needs, and goals. Everyone has the potential for change, and we guide you through this process with professionalism and empathy.
We understand that seeking psychological help can be challenging. Therefore, we aim to make the process as easy and comfortable as possible. If you’re dealing with trauma, anxiety, or body-image concerns, we’re here to offer expert care tailored to your needs.
