Symptoms and Warning Signs of Adenomyosis

Symptoms and Warning Signs of Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis symptoms can range from mild to severe, and in some cases, women may have no symptoms at all.

Most Common Symptoms

  • Heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
  • Severe menstrual cramps (dysmenorrhea)
  • Pelvic pain or pressure
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Enlarged or tender uterus
  • Spotting between periods
  • Fatigue or anaemia (from blood loss)

When to Seek Help

If your periods are affecting your daily life or you’re experiencing chronic pelvic pain, it’s worth seeing a GP or gynaecologist. In South Africa’s public sector, long waits can delay diagnosis, so be specific about your symptoms when seeking care.
