Dr Catherine Wilson Consultant Psychiatrists London offers trusted, specialist care rooted in compassion, experience, and clinical excellence. As a Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist with the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, Dr Wilson provides expert assessment and treatment for a wide range of mental health conditions.
Dr Wilson completed her psychiatric training through the prestigious Maudsley rotation. She trained in both General Adult Psychiatry and specialist Perinatal Psychiatry. Her experience spans diverse settings, from community care to inpatient treatment. She has worked in the National Psychosis Unit and an inpatient Mother and Baby Unit.
She holds dual accreditation: General Adult Psychiatry and Liaison Psychiatry, endorsed by the Royal College of Psychiatrists. This extensive training allows her to address complex mental health conditions with a nuanced, patient-centred approach.
Dr Wilson treats a wide spectrum of conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, bipolar disorder, and psychosis. She supports individuals through perinatal challenges and beyond. Her clinical approach integrates the latest evidence with personalised care. She also helps those coping with chronic physical illness and mental health challenges simultaneously.
Her practice supports both men and women, recognising that mental health needs vary and require a sensitive, inclusive approach. She ensures that each patient receives a thorough assessment and clear, collaborative care plan.
In her NHS role, Dr Wilson leads a growing Perinatal Mental Health Team in South London. She works closely with GPs, midwives, health visitors, and social workers. This team-based care model delivers timely, holistic support to those navigating mental illness during pregnancy and postnatally.
Her collaborative style ensures that patients benefit from shared expertise and continuity of care across services. As a result, families receive the help they need with less stress and greater confidence.
Dr Wilson is also a passionate educator. She designs and delivers nationally recognised training programmes in Mental Health Simulation, with a focus on Perinatal Mental Health. These courses support multidisciplinary teams across primary care, hospitals, and social care.
She holds a PGCE in Clinical Education, further highlighting her commitment to improving mental health care through quality training and professional development.
Due to reduced clinic hours, Dr Wilson is currently not accepting new referrals. This decision ensures existing patients receive prompt and uninterrupted care. Updates will appear on this page should the situation change.
