Dr Diane Fatkin Cardiology Sydney leads a pioneering approach to understanding inherited heart disease. With a unique blend of clinical insight and research expertise, she brings deep knowledge to the field of molecular cardiology.
Dr Fatkin holds extensive qualifications including MB BS, BSc(Med), FRACP, and FCSANZ. She specializes in Molecular Cardiology and is currently based at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. Her work focuses on the genetics of inherited cardiomyopathies, an area critical to the future of cardiovascular health.
In addition to research, she holds several important academic and clinical positions. These include Laboratory Head at the Molecular Cardiology Division and Honorary Medical Officer in the Cardiology Department at St Vincent’s Hospital.
Importantly, Dr Fatkin balances patient care with cutting-edge genetic research. She maintains an Honorary Medical Officer (HMO) role while leading advanced research efforts. This dual approach ensures her work directly benefits patients.
Throughout her career, Dr Fatkin has explored how genetic mutations cause inherited heart conditions. Her goal is to translate discoveries into real-world treatments. Thanks to her efforts, molecular cardiology continues to evolve rapidly.
Her base of operations, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute, remains at the heart of her work. Located in the Lowy Packer Building at 405 Liverpool Street, Darlinghurst, the institute supports breakthrough science in heart disease.
