Jane Chugg-White Psychological Therapist Sussex brings over 30 years of experience treating a wide range of mental health issues. She specialises in post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, developmental trauma, attachment-based trauma, and dissociation. Her extensive background covers both residential and outpatient therapy settings. Moreover, Jane has deep expertise in managing depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. As a dedicated therapist, she delivers compassionate care that supports lasting recovery.
At Priory Hospital Ticehurst House, Jane Chugg-White Psychological Therapist Sussex has worked since 2002. She joined their residential complex trauma programme and has helped many patients recover from trauma. She treats single event traumas and multiple event traumas with great skill. Additionally, Jane focuses on developmental and attachment-based trauma, which often underlies complex PTSD and dissociation. Her therapeutic approach prioritises personalised care and evidence-based techniques to foster healing.
Jane also provides clinical supervision for therapy staff at Priory. Notably, she supervises a specialist team supporting patients who engage in severe self-harm or suicidal behaviours. This leadership role highlights her expertise and commitment to high-quality care. Jane’s clinical supervision helps ensure that therapy teams maintain professional standards and deliver effective treatment. This work significantly impacts patient outcomes and staff development.
Before joining Priory, Jane Chugg-White Psychological Therapist Sussex worked for eight years at a Rape Crisis Centre in London. She started as a volunteer and progressed to become the centre manager. Jane delivered both face-to-face and helpline counselling and developed training for new volunteers. Furthermore, she contributed to media consultancy and worked with external agencies to improve support for survivors of sexual assault.
Jane also advised the Metropolitan Police on improving services for rape and sexual assault victims. After this, she coordinated an NHS pilot project to raise awareness of domestic violence. As part of this initiative, she introduced routine screening in hospital departments and trained medical staff on recognising and responding to domestic violence. These efforts helped improve early identification and support for vulnerable patients.
In addition to clinical work, Jane worked as a senior lecturer at Canterbury Christchurch University. There, she supported the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme. Jane supervised students, led examinations, and contributed to training the next generation of therapists. Her teaching role complemented her clinical expertise, strengthening mental health services in the wider community.
Jane holds accreditations from the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Currently, she continues to work primarily with outpatients at Ticehurst House, focusing on trauma-related conditions and other mental health issues. Her ongoing commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centred care makes her a trusted therapist in Sussex.
