Description

Oliver Bowie Psychotherapist Kent – Compassionate, Evidence-Based Family Support

Oliver Bowie Psychotherapist Kent offers a safe, structured environment for individuals, couples, and families to explore personal and relational challenges. I work with clients who struggle to communicate their needs and be open with those around them. My goal is to empower every voice in the room and ensure that therapeutic conversations move us toward shared understanding.

Understanding Family Systems and Life Transitions

Many of the families I support face complex life transitions—births, deaths, migration, marriage, or divorce. These moments can deeply affect communication and family dynamics. I guide families in exploring hereditary patterns and scripts passed down through generations. Often, these patterns involve unspoken pride or hidden shame, which can shape how we interact.

Oliver Bowie Psychotherapist Kent – Inclusive, Collaborative Therapy

At Oliver Bowie Psychotherapist Kent, inclusivity drives the work we do together. I integrate narrative therapy, attachment work, family script models, and brief solution-focused techniques. Through these approaches, I help clients develop clarity and empathy in their relationships. Additionally, I create space for identity exploration, including gender, race, culture, and religion—factors that often influence personal experience and connection.

Supporting Neurodivergent Clients and Families

A significant part of my work includes supporting individuals with neurodevelopmental diagnoses such as autism and ADHD. I draw from years of experience in this area and tailor interventions to help families build better understanding. Whether in inpatient or outpatient settings, I ensure everyone’s voice has value and direction.

My Therapeutic Values and Style

I believe therapy should be rooted in authenticity and curiosity. I don’t just listen—I actively guide the process to keep the focus aligned with our shared goals. By gently challenging stuck narratives, I encourage honest dialogue and mutual respect. This approach supports not only problem-solving but also a deeper sense of connection and purpose.

Professional Background and Qualifications

Currently, I serve as a systemic family psychotherapist in training at Priory Hospital Hayes Grove. I am a registered member of the Association for Family Therapists (AFT). With nine years of experience at Priory, I have worked with both CAMHS and adult services. My academic path includes a BA (Hons) in Journalism and Creative Writing from Middlesex University and a postgraduate diploma from the Institute of Family Therapy. I am now pursuing an MA in Systemic Psychotherapy at The Tavistock & Portman Clinic.
