Fibromyalgia

This condition, fibromyalgia is a long-term condition that causes widespread pain, fatigue, and sensitivity to pressure across the body. This condition affects how the brain and spinal cord process pain signals, leading to amplified pain sensations. It is not caused by injury or inflammation, but by changes in the way the nervous system works.

The condition can affect anyone but is more common in women, particularly between the ages of 30 and 60. People with fibromyalgia often experience a range of symptoms beyond pain, including poor sleep, memory issues, mood disturbances, and digestive problems. These symptoms often fluctuate in intensity and may worsen during periods of stress or physical exertion.

Fibromyalgia

This is a complex disorder with no single known cause or cure. However, with the right combination of self-care, medication, and support, many individuals learn to manage their symptoms and maintain a good quality of life. It is recognised as a genuine and disabling condition by health authorities, although public understanding is still evolving.

Raising awareness about fibromyalgia helps reduce stigma, improve diagnosis, and support those who live with this invisible illness every day.
