Nancy Southcott Integrative Psychotherapist Bristol offers a holistic and client-focused approach to mental health treatment. She is a dual British-American citizen with over 27 years of experience in mental health, working in both the USA and the UK. She specialises in trauma, attachment wounds, and a range of complex mental health issues. Every client receives respectful, collaborative, and person-centred care.
Nancy blends various evidence-based methods, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and integrative psychotherapy. Her sessions aim to meet the client exactly where they are emotionally, mentally, and physically. The therapeutic relationship, in her view, is a true partnership—one that builds trust and fosters recovery.
Nancy specialises in trauma and attachment wounds but also treats depression, anxiety, OCD, personality disorders, and disordered eating. She also works with clients experiencing stress, grief, phobias, and postnatal depression. Additionally, she is skilled in addressing challenges related to family dynamics and systemic issues.
Nancy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of St. Francis. She later earned a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver. In Washington State, she was licensed as an Independent Clinical Social Worker, which enabled her to provide psychological diagnosis and treatment.
She trained in EMDR through EMDR Works Ltd and is a member of the EMDR Association UK and Europe. In addition to EMDR, she has completed hypnotherapy training with Ali Campbell and regularly attends professional development events.
Currently, Nancy works as a sessional EMDR and integrative psychotherapist with the Priory outpatient therapy service. She also operates as an independent contractor for various organisations and insurance providers. She maintains professional registration with Social Work England and is affiliated with BASW and EMDR Association UK.
Nancy’s research focuses on PTSD and body memories related to trauma and abuse. Her passion for mental health continues to drive her writing and clinical development. She believes feedback from clients is essential to improving outcomes. Every session is designed to help clients feel empowered and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.
