Prabhakaran Naveen Consultant Psychiatrist Bristol is dedicated to delivering exceptional mental health care for adults of working age. With over two decades of clinical experience, I bring a wealth of knowledge and compassion to every consultation. My journey in psychiatry began in the NHS, where I served in various roles starting from 2001, before transitioning to the Priory Hospital Bristol in January 2023.
As a visiting Prabhakaran Naveen Consultant Psychiatrist Bristol, I currently provide comprehensive assessments and evidence-based treatment plans. I work with individuals experiencing a range of mental health challenges. Since January 2023, I’ve served as the consultant psychiatrist on the adult inpatient ward at Priory Hospital Bristol. This role allows me to offer direct, personalised care in a supportive clinical environment.
I began my medical training in India, earning my MBBS in 1997. In 1999, I moved to the UK and started my NHS career in 2000. After completing my MRCPsych in 2006, I gained experience across multiple teams including community mental health, crisis intervention, and early psychosis services. From 2013 to 2023, I held consultant roles in both inpatient and liaison services across Bath and BaNES. Throughout this journey, I have always prioritised patient-centred care and multidisciplinary collaboration.
I hold a Master of Laws in Legal Aspects of Medical Practice from Cardiff University (2011). I am section 12(2) approved and an approved clinician under the Mental Health Act 1983. I’ve been on the GMC’s Specialist Register for General Psychiatry since 2016. I also continue to fulfil all CPD and revalidation requirements through the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the GMC.
Between 2018 and 2022, I served as Medical Lead for BaNES within AWP NHS Trust. In addition, I contributed to safe prescribing practices through the Medicines Optimisation group and actively supported primary care integration via PCNs. I’ve also enjoyed teaching roles as an educational and clinical supervisor for foundation doctors, GP trainees, and psychiatry registrars.
My research interests include national audits through the Royal College of Psychiatrists and local clinical evaluations to improve patient outcomes. Feedback from patients and families is central to refining my approach and sustaining high-quality care.
I provide diagnosis and management for a wide range of mental health conditions, including:
Adjustment disorder
Anxiety
Bipolar disorder
Depression
Personality disorders
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Each patient receives a tailored care plan to support recovery and wellbeing.
